The small stream trickles down from the top of the garden before entering the pond over a series of rocks. At the opposite end a dry pebble watercourse indicates the stream's former passage across the lawn, before disappearing into a grove of birch trees underplanted with ferns, Geraniums, Heuchera, drumstick primulas, dogwood and creeping Jenny.
A small area of decking was erected above the site of the former compost heap next to the conservatory, providing space for an arbour and several hardy exotic plants.
A Japanese style plank bridge crosses the dry waterbed, leading the eye up the garden to a statue silhouetted against the evergreen hedge, and providing access for the lawn mower to the lawn beyond.
Lower down nearer the house a large mixed border provides inspiration for the artist who lives here. Structural planting includes Ceanothus impressus, Viburnum davidii, Buddleia x weyeriana and Pittosporum tenuifolium Tom Thumb.
